Bathroom Decorating Tips

There are so many different ways to decorate your bathroom and make it look as fantastic as a model home or like it just came out of a magazine.

See below some of the ideas and bathroom decorating tips we have put together for you.

Feature Wall

Have you ever walked into a bathroom and been surprised to see this beautiful accent wall and thought, why have I not done this yet? We have seen numerous bathrooms with different material used for these walls and below are just some possibilities you can use to add a great feature to your next washroom decorating project.

bathroom decorating tips
Tile Wall

You have so many options to choose from when you start your tile wall. I have seen some great designs with stick on tiles as well as grouted tiles on to your accent wall.

My suggestion is that you look at the pictures below and on the internet and find the rough color you would like to use for your wall. After that go to your local hardware store and see what you are most drawn too.

Brick Wall

I love brick walls in the washroom, they always make the space look more rustic with a rustic designed bathroom. Your biggest challenge will be to see what color of brick you will choose and the style of mortar you want in between the bricks.

There are so many different options to choose from but the one you see here is the one I have used.

Wood Wall

With all the new laminates and hard wood options out there, this will be a difficult choice for you to make. I have used some really nice laminates in the bathrooms that was waterproof so I did not have to worry about access moisture from the shower and bathtub.

Wall Paper

Good old wallpaper option, we find this to be one of the easiest ways to spruce up a bathroom with  one of the lowest budget option as well. However, as of late there have been some really high-end companies making some really nice designs that are becoming very popular.

Go to your favorite decorating store and see what different options you may find.

Bold Paint Color

Another lower budget option is picking a color that goes with your décor and paint your accent wall. I have tried some different speckling and brush strokes to add some depth to some of the walls I have painted. My only suggestion is to watch some good youtube videos and do not get discouraged at first, the technique is harder to pick up for some people.

Take a look at the tutorial link we have added to the picture. We really enjoyed watching this tutorial and using this technique in one of our rooms

Combination Feature Wall

We always liked seeing a combination wall when you have a long wall as your feature and a nice transition piece.

I have always liked the look of the tile and wood mix in a bathroom, however, it depends on the layout of the room and the location of the sink, toilet, and shower.

Bathroom Mats

There are so many options you can choose from when you decide that you are going to purchase a bathroom mat to add some flair. We always go into the store with an idea of what colors we will be choosing for our bathrooms and make sure we find a mat that suits the space. A great place to search for some of these mats is Amazon.

There are so many sellers selling different mats, but make sure you check the dimensions before you purchase. I also like to go on Amazon to get bathroom decorating tips and ideas.

Memory Foam Bath Mat

The Genteele bath mat is filled with soft and comfortable polyurethane memory foam and outer material is super soft and cozy coral velvet feel microfiber.

This elegant bath mat rug can be used at tub-side, front of the sink, or at any place in your home where you want support and warmth on your toes!

Tub and Toilet Mats With a Pattern

We love this pattern and like the grey for the neutral colors.

Contemporary geometric Moroccan design, 0.6 inches height fluffy and soft microfiber fibers, unique fiber-locking technique

Bamboo Bath Mat

This is a great option if you like the Bamboo contrast on a dark floor.

Decorative Piece Behind the Toilet

This neglected area is a great place to a “centerpiece” to your bathroom. No matter who enters your bathroom, they will always look behind the toilet. I have seen some cute and funny signs placed in this area, as well as some towels and extra toilet paper storage. See some ideas below of some great storage ideas.

Succulents

We like adding some green behind the toilet so it feels more relaxed and more comforting.

Towel Rack

This is a great location for hand towels or bath towel storage and great way to add some color towels to your decor

Cabinet

I have found a few of these cabinets that I absolutely love and could not live without. There are so many options to choose from and colors.

Not only are they decorative they are functional.

Peel & Stick Tiles

I found these tiles at my local hardware store and was really impressed with the different styles and colors to choose from. I have always suggested these tiles for people who are renting their house to help them decorate their bathroom with a new color pallet. Always read the manufactures recommendations on how they need to be removed before you install these tiles, some use a really strong adhesive that is difficult to remove.

Peel & Stick Tiles

I remember trying these tiles on a set of stairs going into the garage and I was really happy with the results and look of the tile

Decorating Your Miror

Most of us grew up plan mirrors that would literally be fastened to the walls with no thought of them having decorative trim or any pizazz.

I have seen some really nicely decorated bathroom mirrors with a tile or wood border and made the room look so much nicer.

Tile Border

I really like the way these borders look in a bathroom. They are easy to do and will take you less than a day to install around the mirror

Wood Border

I have seen some people do this with scraps they have when they finish adding baseboard trim to their home. There are so many different trim options you can choose from at your local lumber store

Cabinet Decorating With Vinyl

I first saw this vinyl wrap being used on cars to change the color of the car and make the car stand out. Recently there have been some really nice patterns that have been used to wrap cabinets and furniture. Take a look at some of the great work Wrap My Kitchens have done below;

Countertops

This neglected area is a great place to a “centerpiece” to your bathroom. No mater who enters your bathroom, they will always look at behind the toilet. Granite

Granite is great looking countertop and there are many colours you can choose from. Take a look at your local hardware store and you can usually find the size you are looking for.

Composite Countertops

When you look at composite countertops, please make sure you do your research on the different materials and what upkeep you will need to perform on the countertop so it will not get damaged. Most are quite durable, but some have flaws that you might not want to live with for the life of the countertop.

Take a look at your local hardware store and you can usually find the size you are looking for.

Laminate Countertops

Take a look at your local hardware store and you can usually find the size & color you are looking for.

If you do not find what you are looking for at the local hardware store, you can call installers to help you choose and install the correct countertop.

Final Words

I have enjoyed decorating many different bathrooms in my life and have always found that simple is better. Start with the colors and the materials you would like in your bathroom and make a plan of what you want. Always stick to that plan or you will just confuse yourself and create a busy room you might not be happy with.

Good luck with your next bathroom remodeling and thanks for reading.
